Kim Myhr of the acclaimed label Hubro

As part of our partnered audience development project NOISS, Norwegian guitarist Kim Myhr will perform a live version of his solo album You | me at this year’s NEXT Festival. Released in 2017 on the renowned jazz/improv label Hubro (focused on the scene in Norway), You | me is an immersive sound world in and of itself. Myhr’s shimmering, gentle playing style on the guitar is embellished with subtle percussive elements and electronics (Tony Buck, Ingar Zach and Hans Hulbækmo are guest musicians) and the result is a detailed, constantly shifting soundscape. Dense yet gentle, pulsating yet free-flowing, peaceful yet ecstatic… The essence of this record is so hard to capture that it could be labelled as free folk, post-minimalism or even post rock, and all of them would be true.

A concert that might have gone unnoticed but is in fact a must-see, Kim Myhr will take stage on Thursday, 25 November 2021 in A4 – Space for Contemporary Culture

NEXT Festival is part of Project NOISS (Norway – Iceland – Slovakia): New Music for New Audiences. Project NOISS received a grant of 192 300 € from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grant scheme. The project was co-funded with an additional 28 845 € from the National Budget of the Slovak Republic. The project’s aims include audience development and capacity and mobility building promoting the values of creativity, artistic freedom and collaboration in contemporary avantgarde music.
