Myriam Bleau

A hypnotic audiovisual performance by Canadian artist Myriam Bleau and Taiwanese-Canadian choreographer Nien Tzu Weng, Second Self combines movement, sound, video, and LED touch “prosthetics” to explore the symbolism of the mirror, social dynamics, and the ancient myth of Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection. The project examines how increasing digitalization transforms our perception of humanity, leading to a new form of hybrid existence. Second Self plays with ideas of dual identity, avatars, and cyborgs. Through a performance charged with symbolism and electronic sensitivity, it invites us to reflect on who we are becoming as a species in a world where the boundaries between body and machine, image and materiality, are increasingly blurred.
Warning: The performance contains strobe lights and/or high-frequency flashing images.
