Áine O’Dwyer
Áine O’Dwyer lives and works between Ireland and the United Kingdom. She graduated from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2006 and Slade School of Art in 2011. Her work deals with conceptual idioms in sound art and traditional composition techniques, encompassing a wider aesthetics of sound and its relationship to place, time, audience and structure. O’Dwyer’s art is inspired by studies of the unique traits of pipe organs. Each organ is meticulously tuned to the size of the building where it stands, allowing an intimate connection with its surrounding architecture. The idea of an all-embracing liminal space as an instrument’s extension forms the backbone of her artistic research and core of her live performances. After Éliane Radigue and Frédéric Blondy, Charlemagne Palestine and Anna von Hausswolff, this will be another grand organ festival finale. Áine O’Dwyer will create a new work inspired by the songs usually played and sung in the New Lutheran Church.
