Australian Berlin-based guitarist and musician – with releases on Editions Mego, Black Truffle, Room40 or Slip – is a well-known solo performer and improviser, as well as a member of SPOILER, Tennis of All Kinds and the Splitter Orchestra. Their latest release titled World In World released on Oren Ambarchi’s label Black Truffle is a fantastic, meticulous exploration of meandering guitars, just intonation, subtle electronic processing and heavily effected voice. There are connections to bedroom guitar works of Loren Connors or Roy Montgomery, as well as the foggy atmospheres of Grouper, but Julia Reidy‘s take on guitar music is very distinct, rigorously experimental and emotive. At this year’s festival we will experience a premiere of Non-Linear Stages, new work for spatialised re-tuned electric guitar.
