Artist: Tomáš Prištiak

The mobile sound system culture together with the anti-pandemic restrictions on the attendance of cultural events have inspired the project of commissioning musical works intended to be heard in the public space of Bratislava. Following the festival’s open call, five artists created electroacoustic compositions or live concert sets, which will be heard during NEXT Festival, accessible to everyone, outdoors, sounding from a special mobile sound system. Due to the sudden lockdown measures in Slovakia, this piece will be played in our virtual festival venue NEXT 3D WORLD.

Tomáš Prištiak likes to work with sound, video and concept. He studied film, trained as an all-round documentarist, later gravitating towards experimental music, songwriting. He often presents his ideas in the form of sound as a flexible medium. Nature and humanity in endless clashes and overlaps could be defined as his main pool of interest. He works as a solo musician, is a member of bands Tante Elze and Weltschmerzen and co-runs a label of the same name.

The commissions of new works are supported by the Bratislava City Foundation and the Bratislava Self-Governing Region.
