NEXT Mobile Sound System #1
Artists: Verejné deti & Elýščítat
The mobile sound system culture together with the anti-pandemic restrictions on the attendance of cultural events have inspired the project of commissioning musical works intended to be heard in the public space of Bratislava. Following the festival’s open call, five artists created electroacoustic compositions or live concert sets, which will be heard during NEXT Festival, accessible to everyone, outdoors, sounding from a special mobile sound system. Field recordings of nature connected with singing, sound homage to the non-existent metro in Bratislava and the extinct fauna of the Danube waters, thematization of car traffic noise, creative excursions into club electronica: all this awaits you during several afternoon interventions.
The group called Verejné deti is led by Slovak experimental musician Samuel Szabó, who is also known as Samčo, brat dážďoviek. In its current line-up of Samčo, brat dážďoviek, Vlčia Mačica and Ľubenko, the group focuses its activities on improvised music, performance, theatre and field recordings. The membership and location of the group Verejné deti is variable.
Elýščítat is a young DJ and producer from Trenčín. For the past few years he has been present in the local scene and he is actively dismantling the borders of electronic music. Instead of boxing himself in, he prefers to highlight the diversity of different musical genres, which he then blends into his unique mix. He draws on genres like trap, hip-hop, break, bass music, techno or ambient. He has released several EPs and albums, performed across Slovakia and Czech Republic and is currently preparing his new album Transformative Disruption.
The commissions of new works are supported by the Bratislava City Foundation and the Bratislava Self-Governing Region.
