Punctum (Caterina Barbieri & Carlo Maria)
Caterina Barbieri and Carlo Maria’s collaborative project started in early 2016 during a residency at the renowned Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm. Their debut album Remote Sensing (∑, 2017) was subsequently presented at Atonal, Donau Festival, Venice Biennale and other events. Using only naked Roland TB303 and TR606 analogue sounds processed via multiple delay lines and resonant chorus effects, Punctum distort the purity of these machines, leading the listeners to a dramatically blurred sonic world. Beatless yet rhythmical, minimalist yet euphoric, Punctum’s work will appeal to both fans of minimal techno and abstract electronic music.
